The Rosary by Louis Magnifico

I’m currently in the writing phase of a book on the Holy Rosary.  It should be published in 2026.  In the meantime, here’s a sneak preview…  it’s “tentatively” the completed Preface of the book…

Preface

I’m the last person who should be writing this book.  I walked away from Catholicism for three decades and never prayed the Rosary even one time in my life… until finally returning to the faith of my youth in 2024.  Now, I can’t imagine starting a single day without the Rosary.

I could write a book about “my story” as a revert to the Catholic faith and perhaps one day I will… but this is not that book.  This book is, in large part, the result of reading the book Fatima in Lucia’s Own Words by Sister Lucia, one of the three young shepherdesses to whom Our Lady appeared in 1917.  The Fatima story utterly captivated me and I was especially intrigued by the importance given by the Virgin Mary to praying the Rosary.  Suddenly, I was seeking out everything I could learn about the Rosary and how to incorporate it into my daily life.  To say that a daily devotion to the Rosary changed my life and drew me closer to Christ than ever before is quite the understatement.  But it took me some time to “get there” in my devotion.  At first, simply understanding the Rosary was intimidating!

I read several books to help me – and I still value each of them.  They all presented different pieces of the Rosary story.  Some told of its origins and its evolution throughout the centuries.  Others showcased some of the many miracles that have occurred as a result of Rosary devotions.  Additional books instructed the reader on how to pray the Rosary with texts of each prayer.  Still others served as devotionals, focusing on the Mysteries for each day and decade.

Something else that matured my devotion to the Rosary was Keith Nester’s apostolate, Down2Earth Ministry.  His daily Rosary Crew episodes on YouTube certainly helped make the Rosary more accessible and added a sense of community to the devotion.  In addition, I found value in his insights as he taught through the Mysteries of the Rosary each day.

As time went on, I was struck by a thought: how nice it would have been to have had one single, concise book that incorporated a summary of all of these aspects of the Rosary – origin, instruction, and application all in one volume!  I also began pondering how individuals and parishes can learn to live the Rosary.  What does this mean, exactly?  Read on.

I’m not an expert.  I’m also not the best example.  As I stated already, I only returned to the Catholic faith in 2024 after many years away… and it was in 2024 that I first began praying the Rosary.  I’m not being “humble” when I wrote that I’m the last person who should be writing this book.  I’m being honest.  But I’m also just trying to be useful in His Holy Church.  I’m a beggar who found bread and I’m telling other beggars where the feast is being held…

This book is tentatively set for a 2026 publication. Please check back for updates and ordering information as it becomes available.
